Aromatic plants were intensively collected from natural flora until three decade ago. Due to the increasing population and consumer demands, collection from natural flora has begun to damage biodiversity. For this reason, most traded aromatic plants such as oregano, sage, mint, etc. began to be cultivated. However, the cultivation of these plants mostly began to be carried out on the basis of growing plants collected from the nature with modern agricultural methods. They have not been subjected to the selection and improvement processes applied to other crop plants for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. However, nowadays, there is an increasing need for new varieties of aromatic plants to be used in agricultural production.

For this purpose, TSEARCH Inc. carries out intensive studies on the breeding of aromatic plants with its experienced academic staff. In this direction, Turkey's first three anise varieties with high essential oil content and productivity have been bred together with DIAGEO Inc. and registered. As a result of this activity, TSEARCH Inc. was awarded the European Sustainable Agriculture first prize.
